Who are we?

At Modern Ballroom Dance Studio we teach a variety of social dances so that people can be ready for any situation that comes along: weddings, corporate events, special dates, and many more dancing opportunities. Our ballroom dance classes are specially taught so that everyone can get the most out of every lesson. We focus on creating a friendly, inviting atmosphere for our students and guests. We opened the doors to our new studio space in August of 2017 and have been experiencing rapid growth ever since.

Female Dance Instructor

Yes you can have a career in dance!

Our leadership is committed to providing you with high caliber dance training and a collegial team environment.  But just as important, we understand the importance of a steady paycheck, and that there is the perception that having a career in dance is difficult to maintain.  So whether you’ve had a long dance career, or are a part-time instructor looking to make the jump into a full-time dance career come check us out!

What is the role?

We are seeking a Female Instructor to join our growing team at our Woodbridge, VA location.  Your team at Modern Ballroom will be unlike any other work team you’ve been a part of. We all care deeply about dance, about sharing our knowledge with the world, about supporting each other, and making the studio a success. A typical day consists of practicing with the other instructors, teaching private and group classes, and doing basic administrative work in support of your teaching.  Additionally, Modern Ballroom is a thriving entrepreneurial environment, so if you have ideas or projects that would help the studio grow, we encourage sharing and will work hard to find time in the day to allow you to pursue those ideas. We want someone who will come in with a positive attitude, be ready to hone their own dance skills, and always be ready to do whatever they can to build our dance home.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach private lessons
  • Teach group classes
  • Train with the team
  • Practice and learn on your own and with other instructors
  • Work towards dance certifications
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Attend all Studio hosted events and parties
  • Admin work and studio management as needed
  • Perform with students and other instructors

Requirements

  • Experience teaching partner dancing
  • Ballroom experience is preferred
  • Desire to perform with professionals and students
  • Willingness to learn new dances, technique, skills (REQUIRED!)

Restrictions

  • Must have reliable transportation to the studio’s Woodbridge, VA location
  • Must be able to physically carry out the dance movements that will be taught

Compensation

Instructors are paid an hourly rate plus commission. We will start with a three month trial period after which the instructor can be moved to a permanent full time position within the studio.


Full Time Administrative Role

What is the role?

We are seeking an Dance Studio Admin to join our growing team at our Woodbridge, VA location.  This position will work directly with the studio Owner and staff in order to facilitate the functioning of the business.  Daily activities may include client communications, database management, executive support, and general office management.  Through these various tasks, one will become an important part of an entrepreneurial arts company.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking college students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in arts management. Candidates should possess sound judgment, initiative, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. We love to have fun here, so a person with strong and resilient sense of humor is preferred. We are flexible depending on school requirements but we are looking for someone to work around 35-40 hours per week.

Ideal Candidates

  • Be honest and humble
  • Willingness to learn and share his/her experiences
  • Work well independently and in a group
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google platform
  • Well-organized, and comfortable with multi-tasking
  • An interest in dance is ideal, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining daily schedules for clients and staff
  • Organizing our studio database – MindBody Online
  • Managing product inventory, such as shoes and apparel
  • Participating in staff meetings
  • Assist with events and studio management as needed

Marketing & Social Media Intern

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking college students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in arts management. Candidates should possess sound judgement, initiative, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. We love to have fun here, so a person with strong and resilient sense of humor is preferred. We are flexible depending on school requirements but we are looking for someone to work around 10-15 hours per week.

Ideal Candidates

  • Be honest and humble
  • Willingness to learn and share his/her experiences
  • Work well independently and in a group
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google platform
  • Working understanding of photo editing software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, ect.)
  • A passion for dance
  • Social media guru

Responsibilities

  • Create flyers and graphics for use on the website and social media platforms
  • Online outreach and promotion using Facebook and Instagram
  • Help order and keep signage around the studio up to date and accurate
  • Record video and take photos (no need to be a professional) of studio events to post online
  • Assist with events and studio management as needed
  • Help develop and update the monthly calendar of events
